Recently, the Eco Club organized an event called the Great Gulp and invited our student body to participate. The aim of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of consuming water and reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles. It prompts us to ask ourselves how we can live a more sustainable lifestyle. We're not talking about drastic measures like giving up driving altogether and walking everywhere, but rather about thinking twice in our everyday actions and activities. For example, bringing reusable bags when shopping, using reusable water bottles, or simply turning off lights when leaving a room. All of these small actions can contribute to living a more sustainable lifestyle and supporting our planet.

On March 25th, we celebrated Earth Hour. You may be wondering why we celebrate Earth Hour and Earth Day. The answer is quite simple: we celebrate Earth Hour to encourage individuals around the world to take positive actions for the environment and to celebrate our commitment to helping our planet. Similarly, Earth Day honors the achievements of environmental movements made by individuals, groups, and companies, and raises awareness about the need to protect Earth's natural resources for future generations.
At St. Marcellinus, we not only have our Eco Club showing us small ways to help our Earth, but we also have access to social media, which can be used for the greater good of our planet. Social media helps us understand the big and small environmental problems we face, such as air, water, and land pollution, as well as deforestation. Moreover, we can see the solutions being implemented and how our community can take part in helping our Earth survive, not just for us but for future generations.
