AVA PASSAERLLI & ANDREA DE JESUS

As soon as March 1st hit, everyone’s been counting the days until March break. Whether you’re a student or a teacher, we know that we all deserve some time off. Some people might prefer spending the break sleeping in all day but others are looking for things to do! Not all of us can be lying on a beach during our week off, instead, we are stuck in the cold with nothing to do or to put it more positively, a staycation. This article is dedicated to readers who aren’t going on vacation and who, like us, desperately need ideas on things to do.

Although Ontario isn’t as good as going on a cruise, there still are many fun places to go and things to do. Some options include going to the mall with some friends, or trying out an art workshop (we love 4Cats)! You could to a museum, aquarium or something more local like a theatre (we heard the new Scream movie is great)! Or even just go out for food and try new foods around the GTA with family and friends.

With another snowstorm coming up, prepare your winter gear. You can go tobogganing/sledding, skating, skiing/snowboarding, or playing hockey at an open rink! If you’re not a winter person, pray that mother nature has some empathy for you; spring starts soon after all. Hoping for some sun, you could try having a cute indoor or outdoor picnic, walk your dog, hike, or go jogging.

March break is a great opportunity to try out winter sports like skiing!

If you're left needing to feel pampered after the stress of your unsubmitted assignments, try creating an at-home spa! Follow tutorials and try painting your nails, giving yourself a facial, doing your makeup, or styling your hair. If those aren’t your thing, try involving yourself in something more personalized that brings you relaxation; listening to music, reading, a shopping spree, baking, cleaning, organizing, etc.

However, in our humble opinion, nothing is more fun than throwing a themed party. You can use it as the perfect excuse to get friends together and (responsibly) go wild. If you’re feeling festive for St. Patrick’s Day, a party with a movie sounds like the right option to celebrate. If you're feeling envious of the people on vacation, a ‘Day at The Beach’ themed party would be perfect. The most important step is decorating; get your friends to dress in beach wear or green, buy gold coin chocolates or make virgin pina coladas, the choice is yours.

To cure the boredom, we will definitely be trying out some of these things and we hope you do too. We hope your break is filled with fun, caught-up work, and time with friends and family! Happy March Break!
