Dear God, as we begin this new school term, may we strive to show this month's virtue of respect to all those we encounter, remembering that every person is created in your image and deserving of dignity and love. Grant us the wisdom to always choose kindness and understanding in our interactions, and the courage to stand up for what is right and just. Amen.
February's Catholic Virtue is Respect. Respect…is seeing the goodness in others. It helps us to see others as God sees them, to accept them as they are, and to treat them with dignity.
From the perspective of the Catholic Graduate Expectations, a respectful person...
Has a confident, positive sense of self and respect for the dignity and welfare of others
Honours the rights, responsibilities and contributions of self and others
Values and honours the important role of family in society
Values the environment and uses resources wisely
Honours the faith traditions, world religions and life journeys of all people of goodwill
Be sure to practice the virtue of respect not only this month, but throughout the year, and accept everyone for whom they are, and treat everyone with dignity.
